The Inclusive DREAMS Space – Designing a Research Engagement and Mentor Support Space to build connections and support inclusive design projects.

The project will design and prototype a support resource for mentors, researchers, entrepreneurs, and designers working in the inclusive design space. This will primarily focus on products and services for the market sector that intersects independent living for disabled community with the ageing population and is designed within a social model of disability.

This will develop the fellow’s leadership skills and the confidence to connect authentically to the business and disabled community with empathy and clarity. This will support the career development of Dr Gooding in this market and enable knowledge transfer societal impact from the research and teaching expertise she gained throughout her early research career.

This is an original and ambitious plan which connects to research and innovation in person-centred design for social good. It will be rigorous in engaging with quality research and established inclusive design practice. As the project is predominantly a social network and service it may result in the creation of a CIC company to provide clear separation between the ambitions for this community project, and the consultancy and training offer of the host business Design Research Associates. Ultimately, there is potential for the “Inclusive DREAMS Space” to develop and scale from an online resource to a physical centre that is accessible and promotes Knowledge Transfer connecting to Design Research Associates consultancy and training offer.
